Stars vs. Wing 5/24/98
Stanley Cup Western Conference Finals: Game 1
I sat in the best and the worst seat I have ever been in at a hockey game. I was right on the goal line, 2 rows behind the glass. It was great to see the players up that close and to watch faces smoosh up against the glass. That perspective of the game is completely different that anything I have experienced. Hits look hard from up high, but it is nothing compared to being right on the other side of boards when they smash into them. They all look so big up on their skates. The bad part of these seats is that a good 1/3 of the ice is all but impossible to see. I found myself lost to what was going on on several occasions. I had to take my camera to this one, of course. I had to shoot through the glass and I basically had one pane to shoot through, which is a highly difficult prospect. Being that close and having such a small area of ice to shoot photos, it was difficult to get action shots. Many were blurred, but I managed to get a few, mostly in the second period and therefore mostly of defensemen. I didn't take as many pictures at this game as I have in the past, but I did come up with some nice ones. I hope you enjoy the pics more than the outcome of the game.
